Dialogic to Present on Quality Assessment in the Delivery of Mobile Video at ISPACS 2010 in China

Dialogic® Media Labs Research Engineer Tao Liu, Ph.D.

Dr. Liu is a well-known researcher in the field of video quality and has conducted research in the fields of image and video quality assessment, pattern recognition, and video analysis and retrieval for organizations including Thomson Corporate Research and AT&T Labs. Liu is an active participant in the Video Quality Experts Group and is a member of the IEEE. He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York University.

What:
Dr. Liu will discuss the challenges and solutions associated with video quality measurement in his presentation, “On Quality Assessment in the Delivery of Mobile Video” which will be given in the ISPACS session titled, “Quality of Multimedia Experience in Signal Processing.”

Why:
As video plays a larger role in communications, the need for accurate, real-time video quality measurement becomes more important for new video applications and services. In this presentation, Dr. Liu will present on emerging applications for quality measurement of transmitted videos, especially those delivered for mobile devices, and, in that context, provide a brief survey of the quality models for various kinds of video distortion. Liu will also discuss the challenges that arise when incorporating quality measurement into practical systems.
