MPEG4 AVC Support Delivered to the Edge of IP-Video Networks

Lindon, UT – Apr. 17, 2006 – Helius, Inc., a leading developer of turnkey IP video solutions for business, today announced a product roadmap for delivering MPEG4 AVC support to customers. The roadmap calls for MPEG4 support at multiple points on an IP-Video network, with Helius demonstrating MPEG4 enabled products at the NAB trade show April 24 -27 at booth C8545

Continuing its role as a leader in the IP-Video market, Helius technologies will provide support for MPEG4 AVC, also known as H.264 or Part 10. Helius will provide support for this compression standard within the Helius MediaGate Router using either software or hardware decoding functionality, depending on customer requirements. Additionally, Helius will provide Set Top Boxes that support MPEG4 compression that can be deployed as part of a distributed IP-Video network using Helius software.

“The impact of MPEG4 for Helius is two-fold. First, customers will be able to deliver higher quality video in the same pipe,” said Mike Tippets, executive vice president and chief technology officer for Helius, Inc. “Second we will be able to deliver high quality video to handheld devices quickly and efficiently. This will greatly increase the use of rich-media as a communication tool within business.”

Ron Heinz, President and CEO of Helius also added, “The mission at Helius is to provide an IP-Video infrastructure that allows businesses to take rich-media to the very edge of their network. ”Support for MPEG4 is simply a continuation of that commitment to our customers, the market and our role as a leader"
