Cloud-based e-mail management and managed IT security extend services Unisys delivers to departments of city government

BLUE BELL, Pa. - Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that it has received an extension of its contract to provide IT outsourcing services to the City of Minneapolis. The services benefit all departments of the city government – including the mayor’s office, city council, fire and police departments and the public works department – enabling them to deliver services to residents more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Under the extension, Unisys will expand services to include cloud-based e-mail management and managed security, and will also continue managing the city’s IT infrastructure, from the data center to desktops and mobile devices used for public safety.

The extension, signed in the third quarter of 2010, has an estimated value of $33 million. Unisys will provide services to the city through 2015, nearly three years beyond the previously contracted expiration date of January 31, 2012.

“Like local governments across the United States, the City of Minneapolis must provide high-quality constituent services on an extremely tight budget,” said City of Minneapolis Interim Chief Information Officer Beth Cousins. “In Unisys, we have a technology partner who demonstrates value on a daily basis and allows the city to operate with processes and technology that we would not be able to afford or support on our own.”

Unisys ongoing IT services for the city range from technology planning to end-user support, data center and network management, and IT security.

Under the extension, Unisys will provide city employees with e-mail service delivered through a cloud computing model. The cloud-based e-mail services will be based on Unisys Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), which is one of the key “software as a service” offerings of the Unisys Secure Cloud Solution – a managed public cloud service hosted in the Unisys data center in Eagan, Minnesota.

The UCaaS solution will provide the City of Minneapolis with streamlined management, archiving and retrieval of 4,200 Microsoft Exchange/Outlook e-mail mailboxes, at lower cost than previous methods.

Unisys will also modernize the city’s IT security infrastructure and management capabilities. These services are intended to protect the city’s operations from the sophisticated cyber attacks that have become increasingly common over the Internet and to provide a more secure environment for residents seeking services online.

Unisys plans to consolidate the number of devices attached to the city’s networks to reduce vulnerability points and lower equipment costs. In addition, Unisys will provide managed security services such as ongoing analytics and event management, delivered from the Unisys Eagan data center, to make it easier to identify and deflect potential cyber attacks.

“The City of Minneapolis continues to lead the way in capitalizing on IT outsourcing services to drive efficiency in government,” said Ron Frankenfield, president, Unisys Global Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services. “Unisys looks forward to providing new ways for the city’s administration and workers to serve the residents of Minneapolis – from City Hall out to the neighborhoods.”

Forward Looking Statements

Any statements contained in this release that are not historical facts are forward-looking statements as defined in the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. All forward-looking statements rely on assumptions and are subject to various risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from expectations. In particular, statements in this release regarding the total value of the contract assume that Unisys will provide the baseline volume of services anticipated in the contract and that the City of Minneapolis will continue the contract for the full term which expires December 31, 2015. Because the actual volume of services to be performed will vary based on the needs of the City of Minneapolis, because the city has the discretion to terminate the agreement prior to its expiration date, because pricing may be subject to adjustment, under certain circumstances, as a result of periodic benchmarking surveys, and because agreements with government agencies are subject to the availability of appropriated funds, the anticipated value is not guaranteed. Additional discussion of factors that could affect Unisys future results is contained in periodic filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
