AOL Partners with Next New Networks to Launch Original Daily Video Franchise: "The One"

WEBWIRE

New York, NY, – AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL) announced today the launch of an original daily video program that will be a signature franchise on the recently relaunched AOL.com, which has a daily domestic audience of 15 million Americans*, “The One,” which debuts today, is created in partnership with award winning Next New Networks, currently the largest provider of original video content on the Web. “The One” is part of the relaunch of AOL.com to include more engaging video experiences and daypart programming and joins the series, “You’ve Got,” an open mic for the web that has already included spots from Kelly Ripa, Ellen DeGeneres, President Barack Obama, and -- on November 8th -- Governor Mike Huckabee.

“The One” is a two-minute commentary from a stable of contributors including bloggers, journalists, comedians and leading online personalities who share their thoughts and perspectives on a range of topics including politics, lifestyle, entertainment and culture. New episodes will be featured daily on AOL.com. Among those featured in early episodes are: Baratunde Thurston, Comedian, Author, The Onion Digital Director (baratunde.com); Alexandra Wagner, Chief White House Correspondent, PoliticsDaily.com; Gabe Liedman, Comedian, Blogger (gabeliedman.com); and The Gregory Brothers (“Auto-Tune the News,” thegregorybrothers.com.)

The show was produced and co-created by Next New VP and web series auteur Kathleen Grace (creator of hit indie Web sitcom “The Burg,” and “The All-for-Nots” for Michael Eisner), who is also directing the series, and Next New Co-founder Timothy Shey.

“Video is a fundamental part of the online experience for AOL’s media savvy audience and we are delighted to partner with Next New Networks, whose creativity and innovation in made-for-web video make them a leader in this space,” said David Eun, President of AOL Media and Studios.

“’The One’ is all about cutting through the thousands of stories presented to you daily -- on the web, on TV, in your friends’ Facebook and Twitter feeds -- and giving you a valuable perspective on the one story that really matters,” said Next New Networks Co-founder Timothy Shey. “With over 15 million unique U.S. visitors daily, AOL has one of the largest and most loyal audiences on the web, and we’re really excited for such an amazing platform to start a conversation with all of those viewers on ’The One.’”
