BASF at the BAU 2011 in Munich, Germany

WEBWIRE

* Range of raw materials and products includes solutions for thermal insulation, solar and air-conditioning technology, sound absorption and floors

Innovative raw materials and tailor-made system solutions for energy-efficient, aesthetic construction and renovation are the main topics of the BASF stand at the BAU 2011. The fair takes place from January 17 to 22, 2011 in Munich, Germany. In hall A4, stand 303, the building industry can find out about new BASF products, including thermal insulation and sound absorption for low-energy homes, old houses and industrial buildings; insulation solutions for solar systems and air-conditioning technology, as well as coatings for floors. PCI Augsburg, a subsidiary of BASF, has its own stand in Hall A1.

The variety of BASF insulation products can be seen in the foams on show, including Neopor® (EPS: expandable polystyrene), Styrodur® C (XPS: extruded polystyrene), Elastopor® H and Elastopir® (rigid polyurethane foams), and the engineering plastics Ultradur® (PBT: polybutylene terephthalate) and Ultramid® (polyamide). Insulating buildings with these BASF plastics saves energy, provides a pleasant living environment and reduces costs for heating and air-conditioning.

This applies particularly to low-energy houses and old buildings. The key components for insulating them with BASF foams will be shown on the stand. Panels made of Neopor are now used in back-ventilated curtain facades to an increasing extent. An exhibit of this insulation system, which is impervious to moisture and can be mounted on older buildings and new ones, can be seen on the stand. BASF’s engineering plastics are used in energy-efficient window profiles and fastening systems without thermal bridges.

This topic is supplemented by the versatile melamine resin foam Basotect®. Because of its low thermal conductivity, its high temperature resistance and the fact that it is fiber-free the foam can be used in solar thermal systems and air-conditioning technology but also for improving the acoustics in buildings.

BASF Bautechnik GmbH presents sophisticated and functional coating solutions. As specialist for joint-free flooring systems, the division Performance Flooring offers high-performance coating systems for every field of application. Impact sound insulation, slip resistance, high chemical, mechanical or thermal resistance as well as light and weather resistance can be matched to the requirements of the application, as can special demands such as anti-bacterial surfaces and electric conductivity.
