Medelita Releases New Scrub Hat
Made from drirelease® with FreshGuard® performance fabric
SAN CELEMENTE, Calif., October 2010- Medelita®, maker of breakthrough performance medical scrubs for both men and women, have recently released a one-of-a-kind scrub hat. With one size fits all availability, custom logo embroidery option, and drirelease®with FreshGuard® technology, Medelita continues to be the leader in modern medical apparel for physicians, surgeons and dentists.
Medelita was sought out by a Physician Assistant (PA) in Evanston, IL to provide embroidered scrub hats for a “gift” to all surgical PA employees during National PA Week, an event that recognizes the more than 74,000 certified PAs nationwide. Medelita utilized this inquiry as the momentum to develop and introduce a truly functional scrub hat for its consumers.
By utilizing a certified performance fabric by Optimer, Inc., drirelease with FreshGuard, Medelita’s scrub hat is the first scrub hat with actual functionality specific for the medical industy. The technology of drirelease fabric helps to manage sweat, by pulling moisture away from the skin and drying quickly within the fabric. With a faster performance rate in moisture absorbency and air release in comparison to regular cotton or cotton blend fabrics, the Medelita scrub hat substantially outperforms its traditional successor.
Through the use of FreshGuard, the scrub hat limits trapping of skin cells and bacterial growth known to cause unwanted odor. In addition, FreshGuard naturally neutralizes odors safely and lasts the lifetime of the garment. The undetectable treatment is built into the yarn itself, without the use of harmful chemicals that become inactive over time. FreshGuard is environmentally friendly and lasts the lifetime of the garment.
“We decided to use a drirelease® with FreshGuard knit material, for both comfort and functionality,” shares Lara Manchik, PA-C and founder of Medelita, “This fabric is stretchy, extremely durable and long-lasting, washes beautifully, pulls moisture away from the skin and is bacteriostatic, preventing odors from trapping in the garment. In the case of the Medelita scrub hat - it also brings extreme purpose to the wearer. The hot lights of the OR or procedure room often cause the clinician to be warm or overheat, so a functional scrub hat is essential for comfort.”
It is understood that surgical hats are worn either in the operating room or during office procedures as a hygienic item to prevent sweat or hair from falling into a sterile field. In a profession where sterility is a large component, a scrub hat that can safely and reliably provide protection from bacteria is a tremendous asset. This is another substantial contribution Medelita provides for the medical apparel industry.
Medelita proves to be a leader in medical apparel by supplying a highly functional and quality product. The scrub hat is currently available in one-size-fits-all in a light blue color that coordinates with both men’s and women’s Medelita scrubs. One also has the choice of custom logo embroidery. In addition, the scrub hat is third party certified from Optimer Inc., which is the patent holder for drirelease® with FreshGuard.
