Like a pearl in the oyster: The flexible combination of reliable InfoStation Enclosure Solutions and high-performance hard disk drives guarantees high storage capacity and data security

MILAN, Italy—11 April 2006— Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX), the world’s leading supplier of disc drives, is providing StorCase Technologies Inc., a division of Kingston Technology, with hard drives for its InfoStation Enclosure Solutions. StorCase has selected a wide range of Seagate’s 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives to be included in its reliable and modular backplane multi-bay storage chassis. These highly configurable bundled solutions respond to the growing demand for high capacity storage while enabling enterprises to obtain maximum data security. The outstanding product quality is represented by a seven year warranty for StorCase InfoStation Chassis and a five year warranty for Seagate hard drives. In Italy, Aster Information Technology configures and distributes these reliable data storage solutions and provides customers with technical assistance and support.

Tailored 2.5 and 3.5-inch storage solutions: Wide product range offers high configurability
Customers interested in one of the many 3.5-inch InfoStation chassis can choose from a wide range of Seagate 3.5-inch hard drives especially designed for the requirements of the enterprise storage market, such as different models of the Cheetah and NL35 Series families. The Cheetah enterprise solutions offer an excellent price-performance-ratio while enabling a low total cost of ownership. The Cheetah 10K.7 drives, equipped with either SCSI or Fibre Channel interface, is available in different versions with 73, 146 or 300GB capacity. The capacities of the Cheetah 15K.4 drives are 36, 73 and 146GB. This model is also available with the new Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface. Finally, Seagate NL35 Series drives are dedicated to the cost-effective Nearline RAID storage in the enterprise offering SATA-interfaces and high capacities of 250, 400 and 500GB.

StorCase 2.5-inch multi-bay chassis, such as the InfoStation 10-Bay 1U, can carry Seagate’s 2.5-inch Savvio or Momentus drives. While Savvio disks offer high capacity enterprise storage on the smallest possible space, the Momentus product family represents 2.5-inch storage solutions dedicated to the notebook market. Seagates Savvio drives are the world’s first 2.5-inch enterprise drives and are available with 36 or 73 GB capacity, each with SAS or SCSI interfaces. The flagship of the 2.5-inch Momentus series drives, the Momentus 5400.3, implements the new perpendicular recording technology which allows significantly higher data density per square inch in comparison to the traditional longitudinal recording and thus reaches a capacity of 160GB, a milestone in the 2.5-inch segment. The Momentus series drives currently offers PATA interfaces and will be soon available in SATA-versions as well.
