SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 10, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced two key appointments to its worldwide operations team. Gert-Jan Schenk, previously vice president, Channels, Juniper Networks, Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA), has been appointed vice president, Operations, EMEA. He succeeds Eddie Minshull, who was recently promoted to executive vice president, Worldwide Field Operations. Andrew Coward, formerly vice president, Technical Operations, Juniper Networks, Asia Pacific (APAC), has been appointed vice president, Service Provider Worldwide Field Operations. In his new role, Schenk has ultimate responsibility for the structure and performance of the EMEA region, with a particular focus on sales. Reinforcing Juniper’s “customer-first” approach, Coward is responsible driving Juniper Networks’ Service Provider business globally and ensuring Juniper’s products meet the stringent requirements of the Service Provider community. Both positions report to Minshull.

“I’m very pleased to welcome both GJ and Andrew to the team,” commented Minshull. “They both bring exceptional operational experience, deep knowledge of the industry and our customers and the focus and leadership required to help us capitalize on the huge opportunity ahead of us.”

Schenk joined Juniper Networks in 2002, and was responsible for guiding Juniper Networks in EMEA from a one tier to a two tier distribution model in line with the company’s increased focus upon the enterprise market and the expansion of its portfolio to include security, enterprise routing and application acceleration solutions. Prior to that he was at Unisphere Networks where he co-launched the APAC operation and led a team of system engineers. During his ten years in APAC, Coward has consulted with a range of Service Providers, Enterprises and Governments across the region on IP technologies, first with Bay Networks and later with Nortel, where he designed and planned some of the largest IP networks in APAC. He started his career with the UK government and was responsible for the build-out of one of the country’s first government backbone IP networks.
