Days of 1895 Celebration Takes Place This Weekend in Red River, October 1-3

This weekend (October 1 - 4) is Red River’s 4th annual Days of 1895 celebration of the town’s founding in 1895. This is a free, town-wide event for the whole family, sponsored by the Red River Chamber of Commerce. Experience the tastes, sights, and sounds of the old west. Events include:
* food vendors
* kids sculpture painting
* cowboy poetry performances
* gold panning demonstrations
* a historical tour
* Madame Fifi and her “Soiled Doves” (dancing girls) performing around town
* a free Spaghetti Western movie and dinner sponsored by the Red River Chamber of Commerce
* an old fashioned barn dance complete with costume contest
* lots of live music including a special performance by the Jimmy Stadler Band
* NM Humanities Council Chautauqua Speakers performing throughout the weekend
* a raffle
* and many more activities

A new event this year is the Red River “GOLD RUSH”. For $5 visitors can participate in an exciting scavenger hunt throughout town. The prize for this is a Winter Package Giveaway that includes: A two night stay for four people at the Lazy Miner Lodge, Red River Ski Area lift tickets for four, Red River Sled Shed snowmobile tour for two hours on a single machine for two, a $40 gift certificate to Timbers Restaurant, and a 30 minute massage from Darcy’s Massage & Spa Therapy.

Events are centered around the Red River Conference Center. Event times are:
Friday: 10:00 am until 8:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am until 9:00 pm
Sunday: 11:00 am until 4:00 pm

This special historical celebration is taking place during the peak of the fall colors in the mountains around Red River. It’s a perfect weekend to drive the Enchanted Circle and play in Red River.
