Nikon digital SLR breaks new ground with 1080p HD recording

Always striving to break new ground, camera manufacturer Nikon has released the first digital SLR to record video in full 1080p high-definition.

With its new image-processing engine, the EXPEED 2, Nikon’s D7000 has become the first D-SLR to capture such high quality images and understandably the new mid-class camera has already attracted considerable attention. Reviewers are raving about the D7000’s potential, but top end video isn’t all this camera is about.

Despite its compact body, the D7000 is capable of some stunning pictures thanks to a 16.2 megapixel image sensor and a large number of advanced functions. And for high-speed shots it’s right on the money, capable of reeling off up to 100 shots at around six frames per second. Add to that a new 39-point auto-focusing system and you’re sure to capture all the action with perfect precision and clarity.

If you happen to get a bit carried away trying out the HD video and taking test shots aplenty, then don’t panic because the D7000 has twin SD card slots providing you with ample storage space.

Nikon’s D7000 is due to start shipping a the end of October and will be available from the UK’s leading digital camera shop, Digital Depot, soon after.
