WEBWIRE

Citelum, DBT, FCI, Leoni, Nexans, Sagemcom, Tyco Electronics join the Alliance formed by Legrand, Scame & Schneider Electric to promote a high-safety plug and socket-outlet solution for Electric Vehicle infrastructure.

The EV Plug Alliance announced today that Citelum, DBT, FCI, Leoni, Nexans, Sagemcom, and Tyco Electronics join Legrand, Scame, Schneider Electric, Gewiss, Maréchal Electric, Radiall, Vimar, Weidmüller France and Yazaki Europe as members of the Alliance. Established at the end of March 2010 by Schneider Electric, Legrand & Scame, the EV Plug Alliance aims to promote the use of a high-safety plug and socket-outlet solution for Electric Vehicle charge infrastructure.

This second extension of the EV Plug Alliance confirms the importance of the proposal made by the Alliance to rapidly converge towards a standardized solution to connect Electric Vehicles in Europe. New members will contribute to the creation of an eco-system with a recognized standard, accelerating development and adoption of solutions and practical applications to revolutionize the Electric Vehicle charge.

Early July 2010, the Alliance has completed the test of products from several partners. The entire test file defined in the project of the IEC draft standard CD 62196-2 has been passed successfully. EV Plug Alliance products are now available on the market.

Installed on the infrastructure side, the plug and socket-outlet system endorsed by the Alliance ensure compatibility between multiple suppliers’ products. It allows electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids to recharge up to 22 kW in single or three-phase. The socket-outlet and the plug fitted with a shutter offer the highest level of safety against accidental contact with electric parts and are fully compliant with the forthcoming IEC standard for EV plug and socket-out.

The EV Plug Alliance will be present at the Paris Auto Show, from October 2 to 17, 2010 (Hall 2.1, Booth #441).
