Lucent Technologies Appoints Elizabeth Hackenson as Chief Information Officer

THURSDAY APRIL 06, 2006, MURRAY HILL, N.J. – Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced that Elizabeth Hackenson, 45, will join the company as its chief information officer (CIO). In this role, Hackenson will be responsible for managing all of Lucent’s global information technology systems.

Hackenson, who previously held a similar position with MCI, has more than 25 years of experience in information technology with the last 12 years in the telecommunications industry.

She will report to Lucent Chief Operating Officer Frank D’Amelio, and her appointment is effective April 10. Hackenson replaces Ruth Bruch who left Lucent earlier this year for a position with Kellogg.

Hackenson will be responsible for the operation of the company’s information systems infrastructure, including global communications systems, corporate networks and e-business platforms.

Hackenson has held several senior positions in MCI’s IT and supply chain organizations. Prior to that she was a senior director at UUNET, where she managed the development of Internet products and implemented web-based tools for the company’s supply chain and its customer service organization. Earlier in her career she worked for Concert Communication, where she was responsible for leading the development and deployment of the company’s flagship voice product. She also has held IT management positions at EDS, Computech, TRW, Grumman and Sperry.

Hackenson holds a degree in data processing from New York State University.
