Zurich appoints Christian Orator as Chief Administrative Officer

Zurich - Zurich Financial Services Group (Zurich) today announced the appointment of Christian Orator (47, Swiss and Austrian citizen) as Chief Administrative Officer and member of the Group Executive Committee, effective September 1, 2010. He is succeeding Richard P. Kearns, who is retiring early next year.

In his new role, Mr. Orator will serve as Head of Corporate Center and play a key role in the Group’s planning and strategy processes. In addition, he will help to drive and increase the focus on the Group’s employer of choice and customer centricity initiatives.

Global Chief Claims Officer in General Insurance since July 2007, Mr. Orator brings a broad set of skills and experience to his new role. He joined the Group in Austria in 1989 and has since then held numerous executive and operational positions in Austria, the U.S., and Germany. From 2005 to 2007, he headed special initiatives within the office of the Chief Administrative Officer and served as its deputy.

Mr. Orator holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in law from the University of Vienna as well as a master’s degree in comparative law from Dickinson School of Law.
