Lumicrest LED Lighting Saves 82% on Art Gallery Energy Consumption

WEBWIRE

Toronto, ON – Gallery One Twenty One, an artist co-operative gallery in Belleville Ontario, Canada recently converted their entire lighting system to Lumicrest’s LED lighting.

Not only did the Gallery save over 82% on their energy consumption costs, artists and visitors reported they found the appearance of the gallery and the artwork to be greatly enhanced by the new lighting.

The total power consumption of the gallery was slashed to only about 340 watts, resulting in reduced heat generation as well, making the non air-conditioned gallery a more comfortable place to visit in summer.

Unlike the old halogen lights, the Lumicrest LED lights are friendly to the artwork too. They emit no harmful UV (ultraviolet) light, which causes fading and degradation of irreplaceable works of art and provides no useful illumination.

Beyond the huge monthly energy savings, Lumicrest LED gallery lights last over 15 times longer than typical halogen lights, so they will easily pay for themselves in replacement bulb savings alone.

Mary-Lou Ashton, an accomplished artist and the Treasurer of Gallery One Twenty One has this to say:

“I love the softness of our new LED lighting that allows me to look at the artwork, not at a glaring light spot on the painting or the walls around it. My sensitivity to the variations of colour, tone and intensity seems to be enhanced by this lighting. The long term financial benefits, in both reduced electricity bills and cost of frequent replacement of halogen bulbs, outweigh the start-up costs of converting to LED gallery lighting.”

Another member artist, and President of the Belleville Artists Association Dona Knudsen comments: “The LED lighting is effective and unobtrusive. Since it is also environmentally friendly it is a winner on all counts.”

David Geldart, President of Lumicrest is himself an accomplished artist and designer, who appreciates the visual impact that high quality lighting can make.

David says "it’s not enough for lighting just to be energy efficient, it needs to be effective and beautiful too. There’s not much point in saving money if you end up with bad lighting. Before LED lights, the only option was harsh and awkward compact fluorescents, which also contain toxic mercury.

When people see our LED lighting, they are pleasantly surprised. We are proud to be able to effectively illuminate fine art galleries, which speaks to the high quality of the LED lighting we provide"

About LED technology:
LED stands for “Light Emitting Diode”. It is a relatively new form of solid-state lighting, which uses no fragile filaments, glass, gases or mercury. In the past, LEDs were found mainly on electronic devices as indicator lights. With rapid advances in technology, white LEDs have become bright, highly reliable, and effective for general lighting applications.

About Lumicrest Lighting Solutions: Lumicrest Lighting Solutions Inc. is based in Toronto, Canada and provides high quality LED lighting to art galleries, retail environments, hotels and even dental offices.
