COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, April 3, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) today announced that Telesat, a world leader in satellite operations and systems management, is operating the DIRECTV® 1 and Nimiq 3 satellites using Harris’ OS/COMET® Satellite Control system. The DIRECTV® 1 satellite marks the fifth spacecraft to be controlled from the OS/COMET® system at Telesat. The announcement was made during the 22nd National Space Symposium (Harris Booth #400) being held April 3-6 at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.

“The open system architecture and existing system flexibility of OS/COMET® have allowed us to expand the use of the OS/COMET® system to additional satellites in our fleet, and also to develop new systems,” said Frank Smith, director of Satellite Control Software for Telesat.

Telesat was able to enhance the OS/COMET® Fleet Satellite Control System, originally developed by Harris, to fly the additional satellites without having to depend on Harris for additional services. OS/COMET® is an advanced software tool set featuring commercial off-the-shelf capabilities with superior levels of flexibility, allowing users to automate ground-system solutions at any desired level throughout the life of a satellite program.

“We are very pleased that Telesat has had such success in further expanding the system that Harris originally delivered,” said Bob Turner, manager of Space System and Support for Harris Technical Services Corporation. “This is just one example of how Harris customers are able to expand a system on their own to meet their specific needs. It also demonstrates our desire to be a mission partner by providing all the necessary documentation, training, and support to help our customers succeed.”

Harris designed OS/COMET® for government as well as commercial applications, supporting both single-satellite missions and the largest and most complex satellite networks deployed today. These satellite systems include Iridium®, GPS, and fleets of spacecraft such as the 16 satellites operated by the U.S. Navy Space Operations Command. OS/COMET® also features a suite of “bolt-on” products that provide enhanced capabilities such as operations automation, ground equipment control, automated fault resolution, archiving/retrieval, and spacecraft simulation.
