Building a Log Cabin is a Popular Option

WEBWIRE

LAS VEGAS, NV, July 5, 2010 -- More people than ever before are building their own log cabin from scratch, thanks to the Log Home Builders Association (LHBA). The LHBA offers a short two-day class on how to build a log cabin without a kit at all. Owner-builders are able to build their home starting with trees instead of a log home kit, which can save people tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

And their members agree. “I now know that it is far better to sweat for 3 years building your own spot, than pay someone else to build your house and then spend 25 years slaving to pay off the bank,” said Association member Roy, who built his own log cabin from scratch for about $20,000 USD. Photos of Roy’s beautiful house are available on the LHBA website at http://www.loghomebuilders.org.

“Log cabins used to be popular because they were considered higher-end, and more custom,” said Steve White, a Director of the Log Home Builders Association. “But now the attraction has become building mortgage-free and debt-free if possible. People are really starting to appreciate not having to carry all that debt load for 30 years.”

The next 2-day log home class will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 4th and 5th, 2010 (a Saturday and Sunday). Anyone who is interested can find out more about the class on the Association’s web site.
