DirectRooms.com – Ballet Under the Stars Returns to Singapore in July 2010 for 16th Season

DirectRooms.com is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for Singapore’s 16th annual Ballet Under the Stars (BUTS).

The yearly festival has become a popular event for families, with plenty for children to enjoy including face painting and other activities in addition to the spectacular dancing.

Set on the lovely Fort Canning Park green, BUTS 2010 will be held 16-18 July. Gates open at 5pm, the pre-show performance starts at 6pm, and the main entertainment begins nightly at 7:30pm.

Dance troupes from Singapore Management University, National University of Singapore, School of the Arts, Singapore Ballet Academy, Dance Spectrum International and Youth Dancers of Singapore, and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts are scheduled to perform in the pre-show events.

On the main stage, dancers from the Singapore Dance Theatre will perform four modern and classical pieces.

Main stage performances include “Concerto Barocco” by George Balanchine, “Piano Concerto No. 2, Opus 102” by Edmund Stripe, a new work by Molly Lynch entitled “Evening at the Ritz,” and a classic pas de deux from “Don Quixote”.

Tickets for the event average about £12; booking fees are extra. Admission for infants and children younger than six is free.
