Paris, Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that three organizations were honored this year as the best innovators in the world for enterprise communications as part of the second annual Alcatel-Lucent Dynamic Enterprise Awards program.

The Dynamic Enterprise Awards is an annual competition that leverages a global panel of expert industry analysts who determine the companies that deliver the most innovative enterprise communications in highly dynamic environments. The goal of the program is to identify leading enterprises that have become customer centric, driving revenue and accelerating employee innovation while improving productivity. Finalists were selected among enterprises that showed an improvement in the employee and customer experience while deploying advanced tools to communicate and collaborate.

Out of an entry pool of more than 200 companies, 28 industry independent analysts—including those who work with international firms such as IDC, Frost, Ovum, Yankee Group, McGee-Smith Analytics, CommFusion, Contact Babel, Current Analysis and Forrester Research—chose three winners based on presentations held in London in April 2010.

The winners are Oaxaca State Government from the Americas region, the Four Seasons Mumbai and Capgemini China from the Asia-Pacific region.

“We were pleased to honor the world’s most innovative, dynamic enterprises,” said Xavier Martin, Vice President, Product Marketing, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Group. “These organizations cover a range of industries but they are similar in their deep commitment to improving communications across the enterprise. We thank them for providing such superb examples of what it means to be a truly dynamic enterprise.”

These winners each gave a detailed presentation and demonstration to the industry analysts of their enterprise communication strategies and why they should be included among the elite organizations in the world. The judging process held the finalists to the highest standards in enterprise communications, evaluating each candidate against six key categories. Three criteria determined their overall scores: innovation, optimization and ability to communicate. The common element each of the winners shared was their ability to improve overall service delivery through an enhanced infrastructure that optimizes employee engagement, leverages enterprise resources and drives down operational costs.

The companies being recognized scored either a “4-Star” or a “3-Star” ranking (on a scale of one- to four-stars), indicating how analysts felt the companies performed when compared to the three scoring criteria. A 4-Star ranking is the highest honor possible, while a 3-Star award is also regarded as an exceptional achievement. This year Oaxaca State Government achieved 4-Star status, while Four Seasons Mumbai and Capgemini China achieved 3-Stars.

Details on the 4-Star winner:

* As one of the poorest states in Mexico, Oaxaca’s state government was selected for planning and executing upon a pioneering transformation project that has revitalized the state capital. As a key regional tourist center, the state capital has reduced the noise, traffic and pollution created by 25,000 government workers located in 120 state government buildings; instead consolidating workers on two purpose-built, out of town campuses served by improved public transportation. Through this new telecommunications infrastructure, which includes unified communications and knowledge sharing capabilities, the state government has been able to make significant improvements to service and employee productivity while driving down telecommunications related costs; money which can now be spent on better public services.

Details on the 3-Star winners:

* Four Seasons Mumbai, part of the Canadian-based hotel chain with 83 hotels in 35 countries, was selected for continuing to lead the hospitality industry with innovative enhancements that make business travel easier and leisure travel more rewarding. Through an unyielding dedication to the guest experience, supported by a leading edge communications infrastructure, the organization offers a wireless experience for both guests and employees at the 33-story hotel.

Enabled by their converged network infrastructure—which offers the highest levels of performance, efficiency and security—one such example sees employees leveraging advanced Wi-Fi based mobile communication devices to enhance productivity and response times, plus improve the hotel’s ability to deal with emergency situations through proactive employee messaging. Four Seasons’ integration partner in this innovative deployment is ABS India, a leading enterprise communication solutions provider for the Indian subcontinent catering to the diverse needs of small, medium, large and multi-location enterprises.

* As one of the leading IT services and consulting companies, Capgemini’s Global Delivery and Shared Service Centerwas selected for its reliable, available and scalable network infrastructure that helps drive the organization’s consulting, technology and outsourcing businesses. This infrastructure has improved network and applications management, enhanced user-centric security, plus optimized resources and processes through unified communications and a fully integrated contact center operation. The result is an infrastructure that is fully aligned with the organization’s business goals and which promotes improved interaction between customers, partners and employees.
