Avon Grove Flag Football Awards Annual Scholarship

WEBWIRE

West Grove, Pa. -- The Avon Grove Flag Football League (AgFlag Football) announced today that Avon Grove High School senior Aaron Smith has been awarded the organization’s annual $1,000 college scholarship.

Aaron will apply the scholarship to his tuition at Kutztown University, where he will start classes this fall.

“Aaron was a former player in our league and he is not only an outstanding student, he is a great representative of our league,” said AgFlag Football President Jim Russell.

Volunteers raised the scholarship funds by organizing the Avon Grove Flag Football Invitational Golf Tournament and Silent Auction in 2009. Proceeds from the annual tournament, which will be held this year on October 5, are also used to ensure that every Avon Grove child, no matter their economic situation, can participate in AGFlag Football.

The Avon Grove Flag Football program was established as a non-contact sport benefiting the youth in the Avon Grove community. The League provides over 350 young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in physical, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork.

The 2010 Avon Grove Flag Football Invitational Golf Tournament will be held on October 5 at Deerfield Golf and Country Club, Newark, Del. Sponsorships and foursomes are available. For more information or to sign up for the tournament, please contact Jim Quirk at 302-547-2497.
