Espoo, Finland - Recognition for an advanced telco-grade identity management project that simplifies service access, protects privacy and reduces the complexity of having multiple end-user devices.

Movistar Argentina, a leading Argentinean service provider and Nokia Siemens Networks have won the Global Telecoms Business (GTB) award for Business Services Innovation in London. The companies were recognized for using the Identity Management (IDM) solution to link subscribers multiple online identities and multiple Web sites such as Flickr or Facebook with their mobile phone avoiding separate sign-on procedures. This simplifies the end-user experience whilst obviating identity theft and allows Telefónica to provide a range of personalized services.

Based on Nokia Siemens Networks’ industry-leading Subscriber Data Management platform, the IDM solution links the network and IT space and empowers Movistar to offer telco single-sign on, one entry-point over multiple devices and personalized web pages to name just a few examples. In addition, service federation allows Movistar’s own value-added services, like a photo album service, to interwork with web-based services such as Flickr or Facebook.

“Service differentiation allows us to attract more subscribers while reducing churn,” said Diego Scalise, value added service manager & senior architect, Movistar Argentina. “With the Identity Management project, we are sure of ushering in a new level of end-user experience. This is a big win for us and encourages us to offer many more innovative platforms in future.”

“Service providers are always on the lookout for innovative propositions,” said Douglas Daberius, head of solution management Identity Management, Nokia Siemens Networks. “We are pleased that our IDM solution presents a unique opportunity for Movistar to increase personalization with improved privacy while enabling enriched online usage on a platform that securely opens up thousands of 3rd party applications and Web 2.0 services to end users.”

The GTB Innovation Awards, organized by the Global Telecoms Business magazine are designed to showcase innovative projects involving telecoms operators and service providers around the world, in association with their vendors and suppliers.
