Oklahoma Roofing Company Review Website Offers Caution to Consumers After May 10th Oklahoma Tornadoes and Storms

The Oklahoma Roofing Company Review Center today announced a consumer alert in the aftermath of Monday’s devastating tornadoes and severe thunderstorms that swept through much of the state.

Jason Keith, editor of the OklahomaRoofingCompany.com, said the damage to homes from the storms will no doubt bring in unscrupulous contractors and outright scammers.

“Anytime there is a storm that causes so much damage to Oklahoma homes like the one this week, there will be scammers and fraudsters showing up soon after to take advantage of unknowing homeowners,” said Keith. “We issued a consumer alert today for homeowner’s to use caution and thoroughly look into any roofer or home contractor before signing a contract or paying any sort of down payment.”

Keith said some of the things for consumers to be cautious of include contractors that go door-to-door soliciting business, those with hard selling tactics and those that request a significant down payment (if any).

“Good quality companies will have a business line of credit to cover expenses until insurance checks arrive,” said Keith. “Established roofing businesses will use traditional advertising and marketing techniques and should not need to go door-to-door to hard sell customers.”

Keith said some of the ways consumers should locate a quality roofing company for their job include getting referrals from friends and family, checking with the Better Business Bureau for companies with good feedback and checking with their insurance company to see if they have contractors to refer.
