Breaking News: Guadalupe River Levels Best in Years, Just in Time for Memorial Day Weekend!

Jerry Lara with the Tube Haus (www.TubeHaus.com) is ecstatic about Guadalupe River Levels for the 2010 “Tube Season”. Currently flowing around 579 cfs (cubic feet per second), Lara commented; “This is by far the best River Flow we’ve had in years and it’s just in time for Memorial Day Weekend!”

Rainfall has finally reached the Upper Guadalupe River Valley in the past several months to quench the 2 year drought stricken valley in the heart of Texas Hill Country and refill Canyon Lake Reservoir slightly above its normal elevation of 909.00 feet above mean sea level. Canyon Lake is currently being maintained at an elevation of 910.00 feet by the GBRA (Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority) out of Seguin, TX. The extra 1 foot of lake level is held back on reserve by the GBRA during summer months to help provide a dependable “recreational flow” for the Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake Dam for the hundreds of water dependent businesses along it banks.

In stark contrast, last year’s Tube Season suffered from extreme drought conditions where Canyon Lake Levels were 16 feet below normal and river release rates averaged around 61 cfs as opposed to today’s flow of 579 cfs (www.tubehaus.com/guadalupe_river_levels.htm).
