Bill Dunch of Vegas Career Connection Warns Job Seekers to be Wary of False Online Reports

LAS VEGAS NV - A Las Vegas business executive is warning job seekers using the internet to be wary of false and misleading online claims from anonymous sources. He is also urging local businesses who have been victimized to share their stories.

Mr. Bill Dunch, President of Vegas Career Connection said, “I was shocked to discover that legitimate, honest and reputable executive search firms in Nevada and Arizona have been unfairly attacked by false online web postings that are virtually impossible to remove.”

One example is Chandler Hill Partners – a Tucson firm, specializing in job searches and outplacement. CEO Sarah Hightower Hill “was getting dogged by complaints on the Rip-Off Report” and was “convinced the posts came from competitors”.

“All of us,” she says, “are at the mercy of what people might write about us online, even if those people have nothing to do with our business. It’s a very damaging thing.”

Mr. Dunch’s own experience is similar to those of the Arizona firm. He became a victim of false and harmful accusations that can be traced back to a disgruntled ex-business associate.

These smear tactics included a dirty tricks email campaign aimed at local business owners, a misleading posting on the Rip-Off Report and a cleverly doctored online video. YouTube removed the offensive video after Mr. Dunch and CBS News proved it was falsified and created by a vindictive former partner to discredit Mr. Dunch and damage his reputation.

To date, Mr. Dunch has spent $15,000 on legal fees to clear his name, not to mention the thousands of dollars in lost revenues. The misinformation campaign became so serious that law enforcement became involved. The alleged perpetrator is now deceased, but the effects still linger.

The only obstacle remaining is the erroneous posting on the Rip-Off Report. The site operator will not voluntarily remove the post unless Mr. Dunch pays a sizable removal fee.

“As a matter of principle, I’m not paying a dime to delete online posts when I did nothing wrong”, says Mr. Dunch – an honorably discharged veteran, ex-college basketball player, former high school teacher/coach and successful businessman.

Over the years, Bill Dunch’s high profile business partners have included Roger Staubach, NFL Hall of Famer and Super Bowl MVP and former senior executives from Sears and Montgomery Ward.

Sharon Edmondson, Vegas Career Connection’s owner says, “Bill was a true professional in dealing with these false allegations. What’s troubling is that anyone can make baseless claims on the internet and you have no way to prove your innocence, no matter how outrageous the accusations are.”

“I know how devastating these false online statements can be”, says Mr. Dunch. “Repairing the damage to your reputation is costly and time-consuming. Hopefully, my experiences will help other businesses who have been the victims of fraudulent accusations.”

Mr. Dunch encourages other executive search firms in similar situations to contact him at Vegas Career Connection headquarters in Las Vegas.
