UK firms getting serious about fire regulations says leading safety products manufacturer
Businesses appear to be getting the message about fire safety, according to a Cheshire-based safety sign specialist.
Safetyshop, which stocks over 30,000 products including fire extinguishers and fire sand bins, experienced an increase in demand for fire safety products after adding new product lines to its website.
Sara Mudalige, product manager at Safetyshop, said the new online range has directly resulted in a surge in interest from companies across the UK.
Mudalige said: “Firms that ignore fire regulations are putting their staff and business at risk as well as breaking the law, so it is pleasing to see that after growing our range of available fire safety products, companies have been quick to take advantage and do all they can to protect their workforce and property.”
Companies that actively pursue a strict fire safety policy and make sure they are complying with all the relevant laws are not only protecting themselves from prosecution, but are also protecting their businesses.
Fires in the workplace can lead to death or serious injury, but even if everyone escapes uninjured, statistics show the financial cost linked to a business fire can still be more than enough to bring a company to its knees.
"Equipping your business with fire extinguishers, blankets and signs is not expensive, but it may well help save a life and keep your company trading if the worst happens”, added Mudalige.
