Rueil-Malmaison (France) - Schneider Electric announced today its endorsement of the European Union’s Code of Conduct on Data Centres.

The EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres has been created in response to the increasing energy consumption in data centres and consequent need to reduce the related environmental and economic impacts. The Code of Conduct (CoC) is promoted by Joint Research Group of the European Commission, which encourages all European companies aiming to reduce data centres energy consumption to commit to it.

“As an Endorser of the EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres, Schneider Electric reaffirms its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability, said Laurent Vernerey, Executive Vice President, IT Business, Schneider Electric. The Group intends to spread information on the CoC, to encourage companies to become CoC participants and to aid CoC participants in putting into practice the recommendations of Participant Guidelines and Best Practices.”

To help its customers comply with the CoC, Schneider Electric builds on its EcoStruxure™ solution architecture, an approach which unites its unique expertise in power, datacentres, process and machines, building control, and physical security, while optimizing energy efficiency. Leveraging Schneider Electric’s solutions to make energy safe, reliable, efficient, productive and green, EcoStruxure is the perfect tool to adjust any business process real time, in close coordination with energy inputs.

For Schneider Electric, energy efficiency is the fastest, easiest and most profitable way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save energy. The technology is available now, with a very attractive return on investment. Schneider Electric also takes part to many other initiatives worldwide, including the Green Grid, the Alliance to Save Energy, the Clinton Climate Initiative and the UN Global Compact.
