TestAmerica Speaks on Challenges of Soil Gas Vapor Investigations at South Dakota’s Environmental & Ground Water Quality Conference

WEBWIRE

TestAmerica’s Air Product Manager, William Elcoate, will discuss the challenges of reporting representative and relevant data for soil gas vapor evaluations. The presentation will be given at the 22nd Annual Environmental & Ground Water Quality Conference on March 25, 2010 in Fort Pierre, South Dakota.

The EPA’s OSWER Draft Guidance for Evaluating the Vapor Intrusion to Indoor Air Pathway from Groundwater and Soils (Subsurface Vapor Intrusion Guidance) introduced a systematic screening and data collection process in the evaluation of soil gas vapors. Currently, many state and government agencies have published guidance that identifies soil gas screening as a key decision factor in Vapor Intrusion site investigations. Some of the noted challenges of increasing importance involve certification programs, methods of analysis or protocols, and data quality. An overview of the current regulatory status for Vapor Intrusion will be provided, in addition to best practices represented in illustrated examples of field and laboratory processes that also can impact reported data.

Mr. Elcoate has over 20 years of experience in the environmental testing industry and is currently a technical and regulatory expert for TestAmerica’s Air Testing Program. He has been actively involved in Vapor Intrusion seminars across the nation. For more information, please contact Mr. Elcoate through TestAmerica’s Ask the Expert website at www.testamericainc.com.
