Focus on Residential Consumption

Atlanta, GA – March 15, 2010 – PositiveEnergyNews.com launched today aiming to raise consumer awareness about energy issues and to promote consumer action.

The website’s content focuses on America’s energy challenges and solutions, with particular attention paid to energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions.

Whether coal will remain “king” of electricity generation leads the site’s news features. Columnists cover topics on energy efficiency and green living. A feature called American Homes begins tracking energy efficiency measures to be taken at a homeless shelter for women and children.

Positive Energy readers are encouraged to “take action” in reducing their energy consumption by creating personal reduction plans for their home on ZiptoGreen.com.

“Consumers are very busy and want to cut to the chase. All people want to know is ‘how does this affect me?’ We do that by focusing on the one energy issue everyone agrees on—the need to save money,” says Julia Glenn Carter, founder and editor in chief.

“It’s very easy to reduce energy costs 15% without spending a lot of money,” she adds.

PositiveEnergyNews is published by LaCour Incorporated, which also publishes ZiptoGreen—a comprehensive Web resource with a national focus. ZiptoGreen users may create personal energy reduction plans and connect to resources by ZIP Code, including:
• tax incentives of participating governments
• utility incentives
• local green businesses
• community sustainability efforts
• energy efficiency and renewable energy programs of local power companies

Registered users receive a personal page and discount “rewards” to encourage their ongoing participation in reducing home energy consumption.

“Our collaborative approach is intentional. Community-building creates powerful momentum for doing good work,” says Carter. “At the same time, I know there’s nothing easy about pulling together stakeholders—all of whom are focused on their own goals.

“Therefore, ZiptoGreen provides tangible benefits for everyone who participates. PositiveEnergyNews, though, allows us to work more actively at engaging people. There’s nothing like a good news source for building credibility,” Carter says.

Julia Glenn Carter, CEO of LaCour Incorporated, also founded and published the former Community Review and Community Journal newspapers of Decatur, GA. Positive Energy’s editor is Allison O. Adams, a professional editor for some 20 years.

Over two-dozen businesses and community leaders from intown Atlanta, GA, collaborated in development of both PositiveEnergyNews and ZiptoGreen. The City of Decatur, GA, became ZiptoGreen’s first “Charter Community” last spring while the website was still under construction. More recently, the City of Clarkston, GA, became the website’s second “Charter Community,” and is now working with ZiptoGreen to develop an education strategy.

West Palm Beach, FL, also is collaborating with ZiptoGreen to raise consumer awareness. ZiptoGreen will join the National Green Energy Council in launching the West Palm Beach Green Energy Resource Center in mid-April.
