NORTH AMERICA
Radio Systems Corp.
U.S.-based Radio Systems Corp. is a midsize business and innovator in the development of safe, reliable and superior pet solutions, including the PetSafe brand. The company chose Oracle over SAP due to the out-of-the-box functionality.

“We were not interested in having to purchase a system and then bolt on add-ons to get it to work,” said Radio Systems’ CFO Chris Chandler. “After the Radio Systems team reviewed the three packages, we felt Oracle had the best solution for our company.”

Venturo/Venco Manufacturing, Inc.
As a leading service crane and dump hoist manufacturer, Venturo/Venco Manufacturing Inc. was previously relying on a patchwork system made up of an outdated MRP package, custom applications, and Microsoft desktop products. As a result, the company’s growth was being hindered by erroneous non-integrated systems, duplication of data and limited access to critical information. As a small company, Venturo was pleased to find that the Oracle E-Business Suite Special Edition contained the same robust functionality as the fully integrated software in use by larger companies, and was not simply a repackaged mid-market solution lacking integrated manufacturing functionality, as offered by SAP Business One.

LATIN AMERICA
Empacadora Celaya S.A. de C.V.
Mexico-based Empacadora Celaya is a company committed to delivering cold meats of the highest quality to consumers in 23 states throughout Mexico. Empacadora Celaya chose Oracle applications over SAP because of Oracle’s flexible and agile functionality.

“We think that SAP has a very inflexible architecture and found that most customers are running old versions of their applications,” said Empacadora Celaya CIO Antonio Murillo Mancera. “We were impressed that Oracle customers are having success with the most current version.”

Votocel
Votocel, a plastic film packaging company and a division of Argentina-based Vitopel, chose Oracle over SAP because the functionality of the Oracle E-Business Suite was more effective for the company’s operational circuits. Additionally, the Oracle solution allows Vitopel to run on a single instance and as a result, centralize server administration and maintenance.

“The knowledge and experience of Oracle Consulting will help with a successful implementation on the financials, supply chain and logistics, selling, manufacturing and maintenance and production areas,” said Votocel IT Manager Diego Travaglino. “We believe that it is easier and less expensive to integrate a new plant on the Oracle solution than to renew the SAP licenses installed in the recently acquired company’s plant.”

Other companies in Latin America that invested in Oracle applications over SAP include PoliNoa, an Argentina-based producer of polyethylene flexible packages and other state of the art plastic material and Maxiconsumo, the biggest wholesale supermarket for consumer goods, cleaning and beauty products in Argentina.

ASIA PACIFIC
Skellerup Industries Ltd.
Companies in the Asia-Pacific region that chose Oracle over SAP include DTAC in Thailand, Dynacraft in Malaysia, KSK Food Products in the Philippines, Maruti Udyog Limited in India, McGuigan Simeon Wines in Australia, Wonokoyo in Indonesian and Skellerup Industries Ltd. in New Zealand.

“After a thorough testing and evaluation process with all three vendors (Oracle, SAP and Intentia), we chose Oracle’s JD Edwards as the solution that best met our criteria,” said Skellerup CFO Guy Keogh. “It offers rich functionality in an easy-to-use package, and support for the solution is strong. There are also a number of similar sites in Christchurch running JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, so we were confident in the local knowledge of the product.”

EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, AFRICA
GDM Electronics
Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider GDM Electronics has just gone live on Oracle Product Lifecycle Management, which it selected against strong competition from other PLM vendors, including SAP.

“We chose the Oracle solution over SAP because Oracle offered a flexible architecture, better product functionality and a significantly lower overall cost,” said GDM Electronics Chief Executive Officer Kris Laermans. “Oracle’s ability to integrate all business processes in a single solution and the option to outsource services during implementation or at a later stage were further crucial factors that influenced our decision. Oracle Product Lifecycle Management has met our requirements exactly.”

Companies in the European region that decided to deploy Oracle Applications instead of SAP include Electricit� de France (EDF), one of the world’s top electric utilities and Inter Primo, a plastics manufacturing company with plants in Scandinavia, Germany, Poland and the UK. Saudi Oger, a construction company based in Saudi Arabia, also selected Oracle over SAP.
