Leading Manufacturer’s 135 Global Sites Connected to Increase Efficiencies

San Antonio, Texas, March 21, 2006, AT&T Inc. today announced that it has won a $3.54 million, (A$4.8 million) two-year networking contract from Orica Limited to integrate an advanced Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN). Orica is one of Australia’s largest manufacturers in mining, consumer products and chemical services.

The new global network will incorporate AT&T’s latest Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology, connecting 135 Orica sites across Australia, Asia Pacific, Europe, Canada, Latin America and the United States. The AT&T solution will give Orica’s global staff access to its ordering and fulfilment systems based in Melbourne, Australia. The solution has been designed to provide reliable and flexible global infrastructure support to facilitate Orica’s $10 million SAP consolidation project.

In addition to enabling more effective communications among Orica’s headquarters, manufacturing facilities and sales offices worldwide, the AT&T solution will provide secure, high-speed connectivity for fast and easy access to company databases and online applications.

“AT&T was selected ahead of several global competitors who were bidding for the contract because of the company’s global reach and long-term experience in the delivery of IP based solutions,” said David Vranes, of Orica’s IT Shared Services. “The project will leverage AT&T’s advanced customer management tools, including AT&T IP VPN.”

“We are delighted to be working with one of Australia’s foremost blue chip companies and we look forward to helping Orica achieve its business goals by providing the most secure, reliable and efficient communications network possible,” said Jeyan Jeevaratnam, managing director of AT&T Australia / New Zealand.
