University scholarships for public service employees and retirees

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – An accredited online university offering degree programs in business, criminal justice, public administration, and communication has instituted a scholarship for those in public service. To qualify for a scholarship an individual must be a current or retired employee of a state, municipal or federal agency or a service organization like Red Cross, hospice or United Fund.

Andrew Jackson University, with the highest student-rated online degree programs in the country www.onlinedegreereviews.org, announced their public service scholarship program in early March. The scholarship is awarded to qualified enrollees in any of the university’s degree programs and offsets fifty percent of tuition costs.

Tammy Kassner, director of admissions at Andrew Jackson University, said the school’s already reasonably priced tuition is reduced significantly with the public service scholarship. “Graduate students only pay a $400 semester fee plus $142.50 per course with the scholarship. That’s only $47.50 per credit hour for courses leading to, for example, an MBA degree from a highly rated accredited university,” she stated.

The university’s law enforcement liaison, Keith Schmoke, added, “And we didn’t forget about those seeking an associate or bachelor degree, like serving police officers, sheriff deputies and their administrative personnel. With the scholarship they only pay a semester fee of $350 and $67.50 per course. That figures out to be $22.50 per credit hour, the best deal anywhere for a quality college education.”

“The team at Andrew Jackson University wants to recognize the men and women providing us with public sector services. And this includes the secretary in the city clerk’s office, the cop on the street, and those serving in charitable work. Think of the scholarship as our way of saying ‘Thanks for everything you do’,” said Kassner.

Tammy Kassner suggested those interested in the scholarship, which is only available at Andrew Jackson University, go to http://www.aju.edu/ps_schol.pdf for complete details, including four flexible payment options available to the institution’s Public Service Scholarship students.

Andrew Jackson University www.aju.edu, located in Birmingham, Alabama, is wholly online (since 2006), nationally accredited, and offers masters, bachelors and associate degree programs. The university’s catalog is available at http://tinyurl.com/y8qqjsh . Tammy Kassner can be reached directly at 800-429-9300, ext. 107.
