State Department Secures Desktop Computing Solutions Resulting in its Largest Purchase of Lenovo PCs to Date.

HERNDON, Va. — March 20, 2006 — CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Corporation [NASDAQ: CDWC] and leading source of Information Technology (IT) solutions to governments and educators, today announced three contract awards from the U.S. Department of State for Lenovo desktops and third-party components worth more than $13 million combined.

Under these contract awards, CDW-G is providing the State Department with Lenovo desktops, large-format LCD displays and integrated specialized networking and storage components required under the department’s Global Information Technology Modernization (GITM) initiative. The initiative, begun in 2004, provides life-cycle computer upgrades and ensures that unclassified and classified systems remain state-of-the-art for both overseas posts and domestic offices.

In support of the basic GITM desktop refreshment, worth more than $11.65 million, CDW-G is providing more than 15,000 Lenovo ThinkCentre M51 desktops, as well as large-format LCD displays. In support of GITM’s advanced desktop refreshment, worth more than $1.35 million, CDW-G is providing nearly 1,000 Lenovo ThinkCentre M51 mini-towers integrated with Gigabit Ethernet communications and high performance removable hard drives, as well as large-format LCD displays. CDW-G is integrating and shipping the systems in stages over six months, delivering about 500 units to the department each week through mid-April – enabling the department to provide maximum access to foreign affairs applications and information, while facilitating its aggressive technology life-cycle modernization goals. CDW-G services include management of a 10 percent emergency response inventory and enhanced warranty service program. CDW-G’s ability to rapidly respond to the State Department’s requirements and execute large, staged deliveries is key to meeting the GITM mission on time.

“CDW-G responds to customers’ unique needs with complete product and service solutions by partnering with top technology manufacturers such as Lenovo. We deliver best-fit, best-value options for our Federal agency customers,” said Max Peterson, vice president of federal sales for CDW-G. “In fact, by leveraging the cost savings CDW-G provided and our substantial integration and deployment capacity, the State Department was able to expand its technology refresh effort, purchasing approximately 3,000 more systems than originally planned.”

“This announcement underscores the value that CDW-G and Lenovo provide to Federal agencies and other customers in the public sector,” said Scott Smith, senior vice president and president, Lenovo Americas. “With Lenovo’s stable platform PCs, built-in security features and technology tools that automatically back up and protect data, the State Department has access to the most innovative, cost-effective and secure PC technology available.”

CDW-G’s industry-leading business model includes a variety of services offered through the company’s award-winning extranet program. State Department customers receive access to a customized extranet site with secure access to their account team, product information and purchase history. These customers can track their purchases, manage asset-tagged hardware and order configured products via the extranet site. CDW-G’s custom extranets ensure a simple, comprehensive purchasing interface to better control the procurement process.
