Donation of Antiretroviral Treatment for 3.000 people for one year by HEDAC

WEBWIRE

February 23, 2010 – AID FOR AIDS International is proud to announce that yesterday it signed an agency agreement with the Canadian organization, HEDAC (Raymond Adelson, Stephen C. Mortfield & Shy Kurtz), which will secure large scale donations of HIV medication to benefit people living with HIV and AIDS living in developing countries.

The first act of this partnership will be the donation of antiretroviral treatment for 3,000 people for one year along with 3 Million doses of much needed antibiotics. These medicines will be directed to AID FOR AIDS International’s office in the Dominican Republic, from where they will be used to provide treatment to those affected by the earthquake in Haiti as well as other populations without access to live-saving HIV treatment.

AID FOR AIDS International will distribute this medication in partnership with the Coalition for Haiti, comprised of Housing Works, PHAP +, The Caribbean Women’s Association, and Diaspora, ensuring that it gets into the hands of those who need it. The donation will arrive in the Dominican Republic next month. This donation marks the beginning of what we anticipate will be a long and beneficial partnership between AID FOR AIDS International and HEDAC, combining each organization’s skills to more efficiently get large-scale medicine donations into the hands of the many individuals and communities who need them.

AID FOR AIDS International looks forward to this and other fruitful collaborations that will enable us to continue saving lives one by one.
