AMETEK Aerospace & Defense To Provide Vapor Cycle System To Lockhead Martin’s Advanced Development Program Unit

WILMINGTON, MA - AMETEK Aerospace & Defense has been awarded a contract to provide a supplemental vapor cycle system to Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs Unit in Palmdale, CA.

The system being developed by the Thermal Management Systems business unit of AMETEK Aerospace & Defense in El Cajon, CA, will provide cooling for an externally mounted electronic instruments pod/s.

The project will provide and integrate an environmental project solution, which draws on AMETEK’s extensive experience in heat transfer and electronic cooling technology for commercial and military aircraft. That experience includes its Hughes-Treitler thermal management subsystems and Rotron high-performance brushless blowers and fans.

Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs, informally known as the “Skunk Works,” was/is responsible for the development of the U-2 and SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft and F-117 stealth and F-35 joint strike fighters as well as special aircraft adaptations for aircraft and flight systems.
