Annapolis Hyundai Dealer, Preston Hyundai Sees Toyota Recall as Unfortunate Mishap for Toyota Customers

Toyota Dealers in Maryland and Delaware are battling an escalating crisis with the safety of their vehicles. Currently 8 models are being suspending for sales in the US, Europe, and China. Those Toyota models are 2007-2010 Toyota Camry, 2009-2010 Toyota Rav4, 2009-2010 Toyota Corolla, 2009-2010 Toyota Matrix (also includes 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe), 2008-2010 Toyota Sequoia, 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra, 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon, and the 2010 Toyota Highlander.

The reason for the recall and suspension of sales is that the floor mats may jam the accelerator pedals and cause unintended acceleration. This is an extension from last fall’s Toyota recall, where Toyota called back 4.3 million vehicles. Since the announcement of Toyota recall and suspensions, many other Automotive Manufacturers like Hyundai have introduced increase incentives.

According to Automotive News the 5 top Automotive Manufacturers that will benefit from Toyota’s recall will be (in this order) Hyundai, Ford, Honda, Subaru, and Nissan. Toyota has announced that they have found a way to fix the issue with future Toyota models but they have not, as of yet, found a way to fix the models that have already been produced.

“This is a huge loss for Toyota,” says John Skalstad of Maryland Hyundai Dealer Preston Hyundai, “I am not sure if even the biggest automaker Toyota who has built up a reputation of quality and safety can walk away from this without a scratch.” Only has General Motors experienced glitches and recalls on this scale that Toyota recently has. Mostly due to overexpansion and proliferation of new models.
