PRISON WIVES Showcases Unique, Touching Relationships Where One Spouse Is Serving Time, But Both Are Doing Time

(Silver Spring, Md.) Investigation Discovery, America’s leading investigation network and fastest-growing ad-supported cable network for women 25-54, launches a unique new series, PRISON WIVES, in a special Valentine’s Day event. This captivating 13-part documentary series profiles men and women who have fallen in love, and remain devoted to each other, despite the fact that one spouse is serving time behind bars. These unconventional families provide ID’s audience a look both inside prison life and at what keeps these relationships together, for better or worse, for richer or poorer. PRISON WIVES premieres on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14 from 8-11 PM ET before moving to its regularly scheduled time on Wednesdays from 10-11 PM ET starting February 17.

“PRISON WIVES shares the stories of families where love overcomes the constraints of life behind bars and showcases how one spouse’s incarceration impacts these relationships, as well as the children and relatives,” said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager of Investigation Discovery. “PRISON WIVES looks closer at the compassion and selflessness behind these stories of love, however unexpected, by unmasking the misconceptions surrounding these marriages and shining a light on overlooked aspects of the justice system.”

Featuring in-depth interviews with each spouse, family members, lawyers and friends, PRISON WIVES tells tales of crime and punishment, love and redemption with fascinating portraits of these unique, touching relationships. Each episode captures the daily life of the spouse living outside of prison, shares the story of how the couple’s love developed and examines unique circumstances each couple has to overcome. Audiences learn about the struggles of these unions including a spouse sleeping in a car outside a prison in order to ensure a visit the next day; relying on collect calls to stay connected, and preparing legal resources for upcoming parole hearings or appeals. Additionally, PRISON WIVES examines “Family Reunion Programs,” which are more commonly known as conjugal visits, and demystifies what two-day FRP visits truly entail.

Examples of some of the intriguing stories profiled in PRISON WIVES include:

* Latoya Marion: Married 14 years to Cornelius Marion, who has served 20 years of a life sentence without parole for armed robbery and grand theft auto. Latoya has fought to get Cornelius’ sentence reduced or overturned for a crime she believes he did not commit. Despite the odds and with no formal legal training, Latoya has tenaciously pursued the case and may be on the brink of freeing her husband. Location: Tampa, Fla. and Polk Correctional Institution. Premieres: Sunday, Feb 14 at 10 PM ET.

* Jane Bailey: Married 2 years to Josh Bailey, who has served 11 years of a life sentence for first-degree murder. After turning his life to Buddhism, Josh and Jane met through his sister and fell impossibly in love. Since their marriage in 2007, Jane has filed for bankruptcy protection while fighting for a new trial for Josh. Despite his sentence, Josh and Jane are hoping to become first-time parents and are navigating the uncharted waters of accomplishing this without physical contact. Location: Plant City, Fla. and Polk Correctional Institution. Premieres: Wednesday, February 17 at 10 PM ET.

* Pam Booker: Married 6 years to Lance Booker, who has served 6 years of two life sentences without parole for first- and second- degree murder. Pam, a trained social worker, struggles to keep her husband comfortable in prison and his children connected to their dad. Fortunately, New York is one of five states in the U.S. that have “Family Reunion Programs,” which allow Pam and Lance to spend quality time together in special apartments on prison grounds 6 times a year. For this privilege, Lance has to maintain his status on an “honor block,” which houses inmates with exceptional behavior records. Location: Troy, NY and Clinton Correctional Facility. Premieres: Wednesday, Feb 24 at 10 PM.

* Tim McDonald: Married 6 years to Deion Harris, who has served 16 years of a life sentence without parole for felony murder. After first meeting through the internet and building a relationship through letters and occasional visits, Tim and Deion exchanged wedding vows in 2003 inside a maximum-security prison. Tim, a retired airline captain and father of two from a previous marriage, uprooted his life in Seattle to support Deion by taking up residence in her hometown of Huntington, Tenn. and helping her keep her two grown children on the straight and narrow. Location: Seattle; Huntington, Tenn.; and Tennessee Prison for Women. Premieres: Wednesday, March 10 at 10 PM ET.

PRISON WIVES is produced for Investigation Discovery by Sirens Media, with Valerie Haselton as executive producer. For Investigation Discovery, Diana Sperrazza is executive producer, Sara Kozak is vice president of production and Henry Schleiff is president and general manager.
