UPS Adds 101 Locations in China to World’s Largest Service Parts Logistics Network
Atlanta, UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced plans to significantly increase its global service parts logistics (SPL) network by establishing 101 new field stocking locations (FSLs) in China.
The UPS network already is the world’s largest.
"China is a critical part of the growth strategy of many companies worldwide and UPS’s extensive regional and global FSL network enables companies to be well-positioned to support their after-market needs in Asia" said Brad Mitchell, president of UPS Logistics and Distribution.
With the expansion, UPS covers 89 key cities across China with more than 110 bonded and non-bonded FSLs. Companies in a variety of industries that require same-day and/or next-business-day delivery of critical service parts will benefit from UPS’s expansion. Examples of these industries include high-tech/electronics, medical equipment and aerospace.
The FSLs in China, like their counterparts across the globe, will utilize the UPS Post Sales Order Management System (OMS), a Web-based system that enables companies located anywhere in the world to quickly assess their critical parts inventory, determine the most optimal routing strategy to meet customer needs, place orders online and track parts from the warehouse to the end user.
In May, UPS announced the expansion of its global FSL network in India and the opening of a new customer support center in the Philippines to meet around-the-clock SPL needs in Asia.
UPS’s SPL network is the world’s largest with more than 950 FSLs in 120 countries. This global footprint, which is fully integrated with the company’s global transportation network, enables UPS customers to locate their products closer to their customers and suppliers. By combining comprehensive service capabilities with operational excellence and best-in-class technology, UPS helps customers achieve an optimized service parts supply chain.
UPS’s comprehensive SPL services include: Critical Parts Order Fulfillment for inbound inventory, warehousing and management of critical parts worldwide; Returns and Recycling Management, and Parts and Inventory Planning.
