In addition, growers harvesting Pioneer products are seeing the complete performance advantage that these hybrids deliver in the areas of disease resistance, grain quality and high test weights.

In over 85,000 comparisons across North America comparing Pioneer hybrids to the best competitor hybrids, Pioneer hybrids are out-yielding competitor products by 1.7 bushels per acre (bu/ac). Among specific segments in these same trials, Pioneer hybrids with double-stacked traits are out-yielding similar competitive products by 5.6 bu/ac. Among products with glyphosate-tolerant traits, Pioneer hybrids have an advantage of 4.1 bu/ac and, among conventional hybrids, Pioneer products show a yield advantage of 4.2 bu/ac. Pioneer hybrids are at parity with comparative triple-stacked products which represents a significant performance improvement over the last four years.

These yield advantages are particularly impressive in light of a production year that has provided challenges to growers throughout the Corn Belt.

“The results we’re seeing in the field support another year of strong growth in market share,” said Frank Ross, Pioneer vice president and regional director, North America. “Our approach of matching the right product with the right acre is paying off and the result is that current orders are keeping the same pace as last year’s invoicing progress, which was a record year of growth for Pioneer.”

Local Pioneer teams are working to advance products in a new corn hybrid class that maintains agronomic strengths and improves performance vs. those planted in 2009. All of these efforts are coupled with one of the world’s largest and most diverse corn germplasm pools, resulting in better hybrid performance and consistency over multiple years and environments.
