Wapikoni mobile – documentaries
Overview of the Aboriginal communities in Quebec

Every day, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The concept of the Wapikoni mobile? A mobile video studio sets off to meet the First Nations. Then a team of staff train young Aborigines on audiovisual production techniques. The result: unusual subject matters, chosen and produced by adolescents or young adults. Linking with tradition, heritage and modernity, the young generation express themselves using hand-held cameras.

Traditional Inuit games

Every day, 3 – 5 p.m.

Some entertainment from the Great North, Inuit versions of games that are well known in Europe. An effective way of keeping in shape this winter!

Sunday 20 December and 31 January at 2 p.m. (included in entry price).

The Challenging Traditions: Contemporary Art from the Northwest Coast of Canada exhibition with commentary by art historian Françoise Ramseier.
Young public
Mascot or inukshuk workshop

Every day, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Age 6 upwards

Mascots and an emblem, all of them elements which make up the identity of the Olympic Games while showing aspects of the host country’s culture. Quatchi, Miga and Sumi: make the mascots. The inukshuk: build an emblem!
Haida ceremony workshop

Tuesday and Wednesdays, 2 – 3.30 p.m. and 4 – 5.30 p.m.; Thursdays: 2 - 3.30 p.m. Ages 6 to 11.

From medals to mascots, the Vancouver Games are promoting First Nations art. The workshop highlights the mythical animals which fill the imagination of the Haidas, the Aboriginal people of the West Coast of Canada. On the programme: making a ceremony banner and an introduction to Haida rituals.

The activities are free-of-charge and accessible without reservation, as long as there are places available.
