Optical Services to Improve Customer Service for Not-For-Profit Health Care Provider

Wheaton, Illinois, March 10, 2006, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new contract to provide optical networking services to Wheaton Franciscan Services, Inc. (WFSI), a not-for-profit organization with headquarters in Wheaton, Ill., that operates more than 100 health and shelter agencies including 17 hospital campuses in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.

Under the terms of the five-year contract, AT&T will integrate GigaMAN® service, a dedicated, fiber-optic, point-to-point gigabit Ethernet service to connect all of WFSI’s various locations throughout their hospitals and clinics in Milwaukee, Wis. The optical service will link the organization’s local area networks to a single regional network, allowing WFSI to transmit data at exceptionally high speeds, minimize downtime and allow for augmented productivity and customer service.

The increased bandwidth will enable WFSI’s converged network to support applications such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and secure data transfer between locations.

“We are enhancing our dedication to exceptional customer service by using the innovative information technology and logistics capabilities provided by AT&T,” said Larry Griffith, director of technology operations, Wheaton Franciscan Services, Inc. “By introducing the services of AT&T, we expect to see increased customer satisfaction and heightened efficiency through our use of consistent voice and data transmission across our entire network.”

“We are very pleased to supply Wheaton Franciscan Services with our high-performance GigaMAN service,” said Vicki Jones, president-Business Communications Services, AT&T Global Services, Inc. “Our solution will assist WSFI in its efforts to provide exceptional customer service to its patients and partners by providing ample bandwidth that will enable new applications as their needs evolve.”
