Custom Solution Helps Fleet of Nearly 1,100 Trucks Efficiently Deliver More Than 2 Million Vehicles Throughout U.S.

Romulus, Michigan. AT&T* announced today a five-year, $2.6 million contract for wireless services and applications to United Road Services, Inc., a leading U.S. provider of vehicle logistics. With nearly 1,100 tractor-trailer trucks, United Road was looking to achieve greater efficiencies in its deliveries of more than 2 million vehicles across the country annually.

Under the agreement, AT&T will provide wireless data service to support United Road Services’ proprietary OVISS truck-based hand-held solution that will track the resources and performance of United Road’s operations. Using the nation’s fastest 3G network to enable this AT&T-supported application, United Road’s entire fleet will be able to directly connect and view daily business processes and measure its efficiency. With access at their finger tips, United Road’s customers, executives and employees will be able to manage the fleet to facilitate greater efficiencies, customer service, fuel savings and compliance reporting, along with other enterprise processes in a paperless environment.

“The need to drive greater business momentum, efficiency and results in the U.S. auto industry has never been higher,” said Matthew Cartwright, CIO, United Road Services, Inc. “With AT&T’s solution and wireless network, we’re connected to the information we need to best run our business and best serve U.S. auto distributors and consumers.”

United Road will also have access to AT&T’s mobility billing platform, Enterprise On Demand, giving United Road the ease of activating service on their own and employing customized data plans that meet the needs of their enterprise.
