Many Schools Dependent upon Referendums to Fix Mold Problems

Many school districts have seen their maintenance budgets shrunk as the tough economy has taken its toll on operating budgets. The end result has been important maintenance projects are sometimes postponed or delayed indefinitely. As many of these schools age the need for preventive maintenance becomes increasingly important and issues such as water infiltration, faulty plumbing and HVAC failures can all lead to potential indoor air quality (IAQ) problems involving mold and other contaminants.

More and more communities are faced with special school bond referendums to raise the necessary funding to fix problems involving mold. These referendums require the communities’ approval to obtain the capital to ensure a safe environment for students and faculty.
