Cadillac Ranch Hosts Soldiers R U.S. Benefit on September 17

WEBWIRE

WHO: Valley residents and American patriots looking to support the troops and enjoy a night full of entertainment.

WHAT: On Thursday, September 17 from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. Cadillac Ranch in the Tempe Marketplace will be hosting a fundraiser for Soldiers R U.S., a nonprofit organization that supports the troops overseas by sending care packages, as well as sending post 9/11 veterans to speak at various schools regarding respect, responsibility, care and citizenship.

Guests will enjoy drink specials including $2 Bud Light Drafts, $3 Captain Morgan and $3 Sauza Tequila shots. There will also be a wild acoustic performance from Hollywood, California’s Alt Country upstarts THE FLUTTERBIES FEATURING MAUREEN DAVIS and Blues Cat BART RYAN, as well as Phoenix favorites ALLEGED DOUBLE ACTION (full electric band). There will be a fashion show featuring actual female officers as models, along with raffles, contests and giveaways.

THE FLUTTERBIES consists of Femme Fatale Maureen Davis on lead vocals, Bart Ryan on guitars and lap steel guitar and Power Pop Luminary-turned-Alt Country singer/songwriter Adam Daniel on guitar & vocals. Davis & Daniel wrote most of the songs on the band’s self-titled EP, which Ryan produced. “Maureen Davis has a voice that oozes sass and soul” says Music Connection, 4/09. The single “Hummingbird Heart” from their self-titled EP, was featured in July at Laemmle & Angelika theatres nationwide & is the theme for GetToKnowUsFirst.org, a campaign to reverse California’s Proposition 8. 2009 South Bay Music Award Winners & 2009 Independent Music Awards Nominees, THE FLUTTERBIES write music for network TV and Davis has sung on Broadway and at Carnegie Hall.

Once a Phoenix resident, Davis starred in the Herberger Headliners to raise money for the Arizona landmark. More Phoenix trivia: Davis’ mother Marjorie started her music career by singing live Phoenix radio station KOY with the infamous Steve Allen; she is now retired in Phoenix, spending time with other daughter SRUS supporter and sponsor Carolyn Sechler, CPA and her husband Rick Rose, guitarist for ALLEGED DOUBLE ACTION -- http://www.myspace.com/adaphx -- also on the bill for this benefit.
