LEVI STRAUSS & CO. and workers united celebrate grand opening of new distribution depot in HEBRON, KY.
Facility represents further investment in the community and creates new jobs
HEBRON, KY. – Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) and Workers United, the trade union representing the approximately 600 employees at LS&Co.’s distribution center in Hebron, Ky., today celebrate the grand opening of a new product depot located at 3720 Langley Drive near the company’s distribution center. The 151,000 sq. ft. depot receives products arriving from manufacturing facilities around the world and provides additional storage capacity for the company’s distribution center. Levi’s® and Dockers® products received at the Hebron depot are distributed to major retail stores across the United States.
“The new depot deepens Levi Strauss & Co.’s commitment to the Hebron community and creates new jobs for the area,” said Robert Hanson, President, Levi Strauss Americas. “This grand opening is an occasion to celebrate our growth in Northern Kentucky and the strong partnership between LS&Co. and Workers United to provide union jobs in the region.”
The new company-operated depot replaces a third-party managed receiving facility and will speed access to products, enabling Levi Strauss & Co. to fulfill retail customers orders more quickly. The depot is located in a newly constructed building, which was completed in April. Levi Strauss & Co. moved into the facility the following month, creating approximately 20 new jobs between the depot and the nearby distribution center it supports. The company expects that number to more than double in the next one to two years as the new depot ramps up to full volume capacity. In addition to supplying products for retailers across the United States, the new depot also supplies products for all of Levi Strauss & Co.’s growing company-operated U.S. retail stores, which includes 50 Levi’s® Stores and 97 Levi’s® and Dockers® Outlet stores.
“This new facility means additional good-paying union jobs for Northern Kentucky,” said Bruce Raynor, President, Workers United. “It also continues to build the long and productive relationship that Workers United and Levi Strauss & Co. have enjoyed for more than 30 years.
The Levi Strauss & Co. distribution center in Hebron opened in May 1999.
