Duke Energy Included on Dow Jones Sustainability Index for North America

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Duke Energy has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North American companies in the electric utility sector for the fourth consecutive year.

“Earning a spot on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is an important achievement for Duke Energy,” said Chairman, President and CEO Jim Rogers. “This recognition confirms we’re headed in the right direction with regard to balancing the needs of our customers, the environment and Duke Energy shareholders.”

Launched in 1999, the DJSI tracks the financial performance of leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. In selecting the top performers in each business sector, DJSI reviews companies on several general and industry-specific topics related to economic, environmental and social dimensions. These include corporate governance, environmental policy, climate strategy, human capital development and labor practices.

Duke Energy publishes an annual Sustainability Report that summarizes its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, develop new technologies for a low-carbon future and operate as a sustainable business.
