Bay Area-based entrepreneur announces new book, Confessions of a Brazilian Bikini Waxer, a collection of humorous stories that showcase the inherent empowerment and transformation in a good Brazilian Bikini Wax

(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) – Reny Ryan, a popular Bay Area esthetician, today announced the release of her first book – a collection of stories from inside her waxing room, entitled Confessions of a Brazilian Bikini Waxer. The heartwarming book includes stories from Reny’s various clients, from businessmen and women to mothers and attentive husbands, teenagers to senior citizens - all brought together by the power of a good Brazilian Bikini Wax.

Unfortunately, Reny’s life was not always filled with such happiness and good fortune. Stuck in an unhappy and abusive marriage in Brazil, Reny had her first son, Julio, at eighteen years old. She left her husband and moved with Julio to the United States in 1984, determined to create a better life for both of them. With more determination than most, Reny survived by cleaning houses and working as a nanny for $80 a month, six days a week. Reny eventually remarried, had three more sons and went back to school to get her esthetician degree.

“I had always been interested in waxing,” said Reny. “It was popular in Brazil, a country exceptionally proud of the human body, as early as the 1970s and I spent years practicing on family and friends.”

Reny opened her own waxing business, which she operated out of her home for 10 years, relying only on her warm personality, excellence at her trade and word-of-mouth from satisfied customers to bring in the business. Twelve years later, the business boasts over 1,500 clients a year, some traveling as many as two to three hours for an appointment. In the twenty-five years since she first left Brazil, the charismatic entrepreneur has brought her life full circle.

“I have created the life I always wanted,” said Reny. “I love my family, have cultivated good friendships and have dedicated myself to the practice I love. This has brought me the best kind of success – true happiness.”

“The Brazilian Bikini Wax brings people together; it breaks down cultural walls and allows men and women of all ages to feel comfortable, confident and attractive,” Reny continues. “I have been able to build relationships based on trust and laughter with my clients and I am excited to share those relationships and those stories with the rest of the world.”

Reny believes her Brazilian background and sociability allow her clients to be comfortable and overcome the inherent shyness with revealing what many consider to be very private parts of the body to a stranger.

“The key to success as a waxer is to keep up a genuine and comfortable conversation with your clients,” said Reny. “It’s about building relationships through laughter and trust.”

It is this approach to her business that has made Ryan the confidante of many and led to the compilation of the hilarious tales in Confessions of a Brazilian Bikini Waxer. In this book, a wonderful debut from a first-time author, readers get an exclusive glance into the waxing room - unclothed, one leg up, one leg down, women (and men) share their most intimate stories with Reny, who now shares them with you!

Confessions of a Brazilian Bikini Waxer talks about shy first visits, husbands who insist Brazilian Bikini Waxes stay at the top of their wives budgets even in a down economy, and about how this one-time luxury for only the rich and famous has now become a regular activity for women and men everywhere.
