ANAHEIM, CA (August 25, 2009) — It started as a dream for one Orange County teen looking for a safe place she and other young people could hang out on weekends, listen to good, positive music, dance, and generally have a good time. Now three years later, that dream will become a reality with the Saturday, August 29th, grand opening of Club Savi, a night club for teens and young adults located at All Access Christian Fellowship in the Savi Ranch district of Anaheim.

“As a high school student I was looking for a place where my friends and I could hang out at night after Bible study,” said Elisabeth Ashley, 21, whose father Carlos Ayub pastors All Access Christian Fellowship, where the club is located. “The only problem was that everything in our area closed at 10 p.m., so we’d typically end up racing to the local coffee shop with five minutes to order before it closed, then spend hours outside just talking.”

With a background in both music and dance, Ashley eventually started her own booking agency for Christian talent, along with a recording studio. “We had most of the pieces we needed to put together the type of place I envisioned,” she recalled. “Because I’ve worked with top musicians and bands most of my life, and I was booking top-notch artists for other venues, I knew exactly what would work for a Christian night club.” What she lacked was a location that would be both high-profile and affordable.

That changed when their church moved into a former warehouse in Anaheim’s busy Savi Ranch retail district. The facility gives the multi-cultural congregation plenty of room to expand its many-faceted outreach programs. “One of those outreaches is definitely Club Savi,” says Pastor Carlos Ayub. “Our congregation is all about finding the most effective ways to reach out to our community and neighborhoods, and a nightspot offering good music and clean fun for young people fits our profile perfectly.”

Ashley said that the club, which will be open every Friday and Saturday night from 7:00 p.m. until approximately 1:00 a.m., will showcase some of the hottest bands and artists from a wide variety of musical genres. “We’ve got some solid connections throughout the music industry, so in addition to rap, hip hop, and rock, we will be introducing some music that maybe isn’t given wide play on Christian radio,” Ashley explained. “We also plan to have dance competitions (and provide dance classes during the day), along with nights when the best local DJs will play our favorite requests.”

Club Savi’s opening night will feature Britt Nicole, a contemporary Christian recording artist who has had several hits on Christian radio nationwide.

Ashley explained that while the music is an important part of Club Savi, the purpose transcends just entertainment. “First of all, we want Club Savi to be a place young people can come to enjoy themselves in a clean, safe environment,” she said. “But it’s also for the non-Christian and the seeker who maybe wants to try Christianity but thinks church is stale or irrelevant. We think this will be a great transition for them. They can come for the music and great coffee, ask questions, and hopefully find the answers.”
