Collect America, a leading provider of asset management services and financial products, is using Oracle® Fusion Middleware 11g, the foundation for innovation, to deliver a more agile and scalable Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform. This platform supports the development of Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) for a network of franchise customers that manage the bankruptcy process in the debt purchasing and collections industry.

Collect America’s business has rapidly expanded through the pursuit of new markets. To support this growth, the IT staff determined that a more agile infrastructure and improved efficiencies were required. To help design and implement the new platform, Collect America collaborated with Oracle and ECS Team.

With Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, Collect America has been able to reduce development time for several hundred applications and services that support automated and human workflow activities designed to manage the lifecycle of its assets. This has allowed the company to maximize liquidation rates and minimize costs, while speeding the delivery of IT projects to business users by 30 percent.

Built on an SOA-based N-tier architecture, Collect America’s IT staff uses Oracle JDeveloper and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) for Java application development; Oracle WebLogic Server underlies its Web tier; Oracle SOA Suite provides the foundation for the application tier; and, the database tier utilizes Oracle Database to manage both online transaction processing and data warehouse systems.

The productivity gains found with Oracle’s Java development tools have improved the predictability of future projects costs, time and resources, bringing substantial efficiencies to Collect America.

Oracle JDeveloper 11g and Oracle ADF 11g Unite Rich Internet Applications and SOA

A key component of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, Oracle JDeveloper is a complete Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for SOA and Java development, “hot-pluggable” with Oracle and non-Oracle environments. While Oracle JDeveloper supports all major Java EE application servers and databases, performance is optimized for Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Database.

Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) is a standards-based, end-to-end Java EE framework that simplifies development by providing out-of-the-box infrastructure services and a visual and declarative development experience. Oracle ADF Faces Components provide over a 130 AJAX and Flash-based JSF components for developing rich user interfaces for Java EE applications and includes framework features needed by Java Server Faces (JSF) developers. These out-of-the-box widgets support the delivery of a dynamic and intuitive user interface that can present a responsive, consolidated view of several disparate data sources.

Together, Oracle JDeveloper 11g and Oracle ADF 11g enabled Collect America to build RIAs with advanced graphical capabilities for entering and analyzing data, bringing a responsive, interactive and dynamic interface to the applications supporting their business and franchise customers.
