The world’s first and only online track and field game Maxithlon is expanding to serve a larger number of countries

Italy - August 14th 2009: Athletics fans living in India and Bulgaria are in for a treat this month as the Internet’s first and only online track and field game has become available in those two countries. The web browser game, entitled Maxithlon, and its website have also undergone changes to include new and improved graphics.

To play the game users sign up online, follow a verification link sent via email and can immediately begin managing their own track and field team via web browser. Before the venture it was uncertain whether a track and field game played online would be successful, but it seems that Maxithlon has become just that. At present this web browser game can be played in 20 languages and in 44 countries including the US, China, Finland, Brazil, Indonesia, Australia, the UK and Spain, with another 6 lined up for the next few months.

“The development of Maxithlon continues without stopping” says Maxithlon creator Gabriele Falistocco. “We’ll continue to add new functions to the athletics game and review old ones. We’ll also open another 5-6 countries before the end of the year so that the number of available countries reaches 50.”

Maxithlon is the web’s very first online track and field game which allows players to manage their own athletics club. It was designed and created in Italy over a period of two years by one man alone; Gabriele Falistocco. Gabriele has since expanded his staff to include more than 70 staff located all over the globe and developed the game to be available in over 40 countries; a milestone Maxithlon staff were unsure of reaching when the game was still young.

Further development of Maxithlon, the athletics game that allows players to manage their own track and field team, means that residents of India and Bulgaria can also play online. So far the web browser game, which originated in Italy, is available in 44 countries and its constant expansion means that by 2011 it could be available in almost every country worldwide.
