Concorde El Salam, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt – Illness hits holiday hotel again

Travel law solicitor Andrew Morton, from leading Manchester law firm Pannone LLP is again concerned over health and hygiene issues causing sickness at the 725 room Concorde El Salam, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.

He believes that recently returning guests may be suffering from a similar food poisoning type illness that hit this Egyptian hotel and others in the same resort in 2008 and if so they should consider seeking holiday compensation.

Morton confirms that he “continues to receive enquires from holidaymakers at the Concorde El Salam who are reporting symptoms of gastric illness including diarrhoea, fever, stomach cramps and vomiting.”

He continued “holidaymakers are reporting that many guests have been taken ill at the Concorde El Salam hotel in Sharm El Sheikh and are complaining about numerous hygiene issues including; swimming pool hygiene, wild birds flying around the restaurant and hot food being piled on top of colder food at the buffet. In addition one guest has stated that the holiday representative at the welcome meeting was telling guests that to get ill was very common and they should tell her if they did.”

Commenting further Morton added “Fortunately for British tourists seeking compensation, they have the benefit of powerful consumer legislation in the Package Travel Regulations 1992. These regulations entitle them to bring a claim for compensation against the tour operator in the UK, under UK law. Anyone returning from abroad who has suffered illness, should consult their GP immediately. They should keep evidence of their illness, such as any medical receipts or hospital bills. In addition, they should keep copies of any customer report forms that they filled in together with the contact details of any other guests who may be able to confirm that they were ill. I would urge them to seek advice from a specialist solicitor.”
