Friday, February 24, 2006, PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) products and services, today announced UGS-sponsored Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing and KB Racing -- whose cars are developed with the help of UGS® digital product development technology -- started the 2006 race season in victory lane.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson claimed his first victory in the “Great American Race” by winning the 48th annual NASCAR® NEXTEL Cup Series’ Daytona 500 and giving the team its sixth Daytona 500 victory. Jeff Gordon, also a Hendrick Motorsports driver and a three-time Daytona 500 winner and a four-time NEXTEL Cup Champion, won the Gatorade Duel at Daytona leading up to the Daytona 500.

Joe Gibbs Racing and driver Denny Hamlin won the Budweiser Shootout, the traditional kickoff to the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season, held the week before the Daytona 500. The field for the 70-lap non-point race consists of all of the pole winners from the previous season as well as past winners of this race. Hamlin, aided by teammate Tony Stewart, the 2005 NASCAR® NEXTEL Cup Champion, became the first rookie to win the Budweiser Shootout in its 28-year history.

KB Racing driver Greg Anderson, three-time and reigning NHRA Pro Stock world champion, won the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals. Anderson, the 2005 Speed Channel Driver of the Year, won his 36th race of the last 70 national events and broke the top speed record at the Auto Club Raceway with a 6.665 at 207.75 mph.
